AVANZANDO was founded in 2008 by a small group of Latino women who shared a passion for education and empowering the new generation of Latinos to strive for success through education. The group quickly nicknamed themselves “Las abuelas chingonas” to highlight their commitment to supporting the children of our community.
Today, Avanzando is well known in the Newark community and has broadened its reach through direct impact and partnering with other community-based initiatives.
