Lucia Gutierrez, Board Member

Lucia Gutierrez was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of five. Raised in Newark, she has deep roots in the community that have shaped her passion for service and advocacy.

From her high school years, Lucia dedicated herself to supporting Newark’s youth, fostering a commitment that continues to this day. As an active parent within the Newark Unified School District (NUSD) and an engaged community member, she has worked tirelessly to improve educational opportunities and support systems for students and families.

Lucia’s leadership extends beyond local schools. She serves as a board member for another non-profit organization that also provides scholarships to Latino students, helping to bridge the gap in access to higher education. She is also a proud member of the 2020 Newark Promotores cohort, where she supports the mission of enhancing community well-being by empowering promotores and community health workers.

With a strong academic foundation, Lucia earned her Juris Doctor degree as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and History. Her educational background equips her with the knowledge and skills to navigate complex systems and advocate for equity and justice effectively.

Lucia’s unwavering dedication to Newark’s youth and her active involvement in the community reflect her lifelong commitment to creating a brighter future for all.
